Hoi allemaal, Aliens. Hollywood houd van ze en wij ook. De mensheid zal altijd gefascineerd blijven door ze: hoe zouden ze eruit zijn? Komen ze in vrede? We hebben al verschillende films gezien waarin deze buitenaardse besluiten een bezoekje te brengen aan ons en meestal eindigt dat niet goed voor ons mensen. Denk maar  Independence Day  (1996), Edge of Tomorrow (2014) en War of the Worlds (2005). Toen ik hoorde dat er een nieuwe alien-invasie film, Arrival,  uitkwam was ik geïnteresseerd en toen Amy Adams en Jeremy Renner aan het project gelinkt werden werd ik niet alleen enthousiast maar ook nieuwsgierig: Wat kan deze film bieden wat andere niet al onderzocht hebben? Arrival vertelt het verhaal van taaldeskundige Louise Banks. Wanneer twaalf enorme ruimteschepen op verdeeld over de planeet op Aarde landen, wordt ze gevraagd te helpen bij het vertalen en begrijpen van deze aliens van het schip dat geland is in de US. Hey everybody, Aliens. Hollywood absolutely loves them and so do we. Mankind will always be fascinated by them: What would they look like? Would they be friendly? We've seen several movies were this Extra-Terrestrial life decides to visit Earth and most of the time it doesn't end well for us humans. Think about  Independence Day (1996), Edge of Tomorrow (2014) or  War of the Worlds (2005). So when I heard about another alien invasion movie, Arrival , being released I was interested and when they added Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner to the mix I got not only excited, but also curious. What could this movie offer that others haven't already explored? Arrival tells the story of linguist Louise Banks. When twelve enormous spaceships, scattered across the planet, land on Earth, she's brought in to help translating of understanding these aliens on the one that landed in the US. The USA has to work together with eleven other countries to find out if these aliens are friendly ...

Hoi allemaal, 'Manouk? Ik heb nog nooit een Harry Potter boek of film gezien of gelezen, maar kan ik dan wel gewoon naar  Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them ?' Ik heb deze vraag in de afgelopen weken meerdere keren moeten beantwoorden en het antwoord is een beetje gecompliceerd: technisch gezien hoeft het niet, maar als je het grotere verhaal erachter helemaal wil begrijpen, dan is het wel noodzakelijk. Ik zit er over te denken om een blog te schrijven over dit stukje Harry Potter geschiedenis voor iedereen die de boeken nog nooit heeft gelezen, want dit stuk word ook in de films niet uitgelegd. Dat zal alleen even moeten wachten, want het is nu eerst tijd om te kijken naar Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Hey everybody, 'Manouk? I haven't watched or read any Harry Potter movie or book, but can I still watch Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? ' I had to answer this question multiple times in the past few weeks and the answer is a bit complicated: technically you don't, but if you want to fully understand the greater story, then you have to. I'm considering writing a blog explaining a few pieces of Potter history for the ones who never read the books, because this piece of history isn't explained in the movies either. However this will have to wait, because it's now time to review Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. (Pff that title is really long if you have to write it over and over again).
