Hey everybody, On June 7 I went to see The Mummy (2017) on its opening day with a friend of mine. I'd seen the trailers and was pretty excited about it. I actually did enjoyed the movie a lot: I thought it was scary and entertaining, and I didn't had major issues with it. Later that day I wrote my review on it and, as you can read, I was pretty positive and gave it 4 out of 5 points. I'd expected the world to agree with me. I was however very wrong. A few hours after I published my review I found out critics around the world hated the movie and stated it was: 'the WORST Tom Cruise movie ever'. I never read the full reviews, because I don't want my opinion to be effected by them. But, as you can imagine, reading all those horrible headlines about it, really started to make me second guess myself. I never had this before after seeing a movie, and it still bothers me today. Hoi allemaal, Als je dacht dat de wereld al genoeg film franchises en gedeelte universums had, dan had je het mis. The Mummy  is het begin van hun Dark Universe, wat een gedeeld monster universum, en het is een goed begin. Universal Pictures heeft zojuist de eerste film uitgebracht in een nieuw gedeeld universum van monsterachtige porporties. Als je Tom Cruise hebt, die sowieso al gewoon een goed acteur is, als hoofdpersoon ben je al halverwege. Voeg daar spannende actie scenes en een paar effectieve schrikmomenten aan toe en je hebt een winnaar. The Mummy brengt de mythes en legendes in een excellente manier tot leven met mooie flashbacks en beelden van het Oude Egypte. Deze skills gaan ze zeker nodig hebben om de volgende generatie van monster films tot leven te brengen. Deze film gaan klassieke karakters als Frankenstein, Dracula en Van Helsing terug brengen naar het grote scherm. Maak geen fouten, er is meer dan een legende te ontdekken in deze film. Hey everybody, If you thought the world already had enough movie franchises and shared universes, you were wrong. Universal Pictures has just released their first movie in a new shared universe of monstrous proportions. The Mummy is the start of their Dark Universe, which will be a shared monster universe, and it is a great start. If you have Tom Cruise, who is always a stellar performer, as your leading man, you know you're already halfway there. Mix that up with some thrilling action scenes and a few effective jumpscares, and you got yourself a winner. The Mummy brings the myths and legends in an excellent way to life with beautiful flashbacks and imagery of Ancient Egypt. The skill of bringing these myths to life will certainly come in handy when they will tackle the next generation of monster movies. These movie will feature classic characters like Frankenstein, Dracula and Van Helsing. Make no mistake, there is more then one legend to be discovered in this movie. Time to ...

Hey everybody, I really tried, I did honestly, but the truth is very hard: don't waste your money watching Baywatch this summer. I'm sorry Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson! You are probably the best part of this movie and you tried so hard to make it work, but you couldn't do this on your own.  I normally don't go to these types of movie comedies. Comedies these days just include to many sex jokes and I'm not a fan of all that oversexed humor they feel necessary to include. It is just not funny for me. Nevertheless I put that aside and went to watch Baywatch because I love The Rock (and secretly Zac Efron ... I am, after all, still a woman 😅). It failed miserably to make me laugh for the good reasons: I started laughing because it was so bad. There was very little actual baywatching in this movie because you can't possible fill up a 2 hour movie with interesting stuff about baywatching! Hoi allemaal, Ik heb het geprobeerd, ik heb het echt geprobeerd, maar de waarheid is hard: verspil je geld alsjeblieft niet aan het kijken van  Baywatch  deze zomer. Het spijt me Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson! Je bent waarschijnlijk het beste gedeelte van de film en je deed zo je best om het te laten werken, maar je kon het gewoon niet alleen doen. Ik ga normaal ook niet naar dit soort comedy's. Comedy's deze dagen zitten gewoon te vol met sex grappen en ik ben geen fan van deze oversekste humor die ze zo nodig moeten includeren. Het is gewoon niet grappig voor mij. Desondanks heb ik dat aan de kant gezet en besloot ik naar Baywatch te gaan want ik hou van The Rock (en stiekem van Zac Efron ... ik blijf toch een vrouw 😅) Het faalde hard om mij te laten lachen voor de juiste redenen: ik begon te lachen omdat het zo slecht was. Er was erg weinig daadwerkelijk strandwachten in deze film omdat je geen 2 uur lange film kunt maken over interessante dingen rondom strandwachten....
