July reviews - Mamma Mia! 2, Ant-Man 2 and M:I-6
Hey everybody,
Summer is here and it's on in The Netherlands. Last week the temperature reaches up to 36 degrees (Celcius). So the hot weather gives plenty of oppurtinity to go to the cinema in search of some cooling. This month's themes are 'sequels' and 'installments'; from the 20th installment to the MCU to the 6th installment to the Mission: Impossible franchise.
Ant-Man and the Wasp (★★★★☆)
The long wait for Avengers 4 has only just begon; but luckily there is plenty of Marvel fun inbetween to enjoy. The Ant-Man sequel is another fine example that the Marvel studio is the producer of solid and fun movies. The movie isn't really special or one of Marvel's best; but it provides plenty of action, fun and lots of laughs from the hilarious cast and script.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (★★★☆☆)
If I have one guilty pleasure in the land of movies, then it's defenitly the movie Mamma Mia!. Maybe because I was raised listening to the songs of ABBA, or because I'm still deep doing a hopeless romantic. Nonetheless this sequel, like the first one, uses the great songs written by the Swedish band to trick you into enjoying this movie even though the story or the acting isn't exactly Oscar material. Just sit back, enjoy the songs and try not to cry at the end.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (★★★★☆)
Move aside James Bond or Jason Bourne; because the hottest special agent today is definitely Ethan Hunt. What makes this franchise so appealing is it's lead Tom Cruise, who is not shy to do every single one of his own stunts. This sixth installment might be it's best one yet with some new extremily nerveracking stunts and action sequences. I loved the way how this movie tied in some loose ends out of the previous ones; so if you have watched all those, you'll love it even more.
So there we have it, my reviews for this July. What can we look forward to in August? Ewan McGregor will star as Christopher Robin, but beside that I have absolutely no clue if there is anything more interesting then that coming into theaters.
With love,
