Live by Night (NL) Review

Image
Ben Affle...

Live by Night (EN) Review

Hey everybody, I went into Live by Night thinking it was a thriller, and came out really dissapointed. The movie as a thriller had failed to keep me on the edge of my seat. I was however horrible wrong: the movie wasn't suppose to be a thriller, but a crime drama. It's really hard to change your perspective then but nonetheless I've done that.  The movie has a great start and I thought: if this is going to be the pace of the rest of the movie I'm good. The movie certainly has its moments but because of the lack of pace, after the first 30 minutes, couldn't keep me interested. I lost t he red wire through the story somewhere near the third part of the movie, I thought I knew where the story was going. What little action we get is great and is however only a too small part of this crime drama.  It wasn't however for the lack of starpower:  Affleck and the rest of the cast give great performances.  Ben Affleck shows once again he has great potential as a direc...

Need to know: Infinity Stones

Image
Hey everybody, It's a hard job to keep track of all the events and things happening in the now fourteen MCU movies. The universe has grown rather large and is pretty complex. Although each movie stands alone, Marvel has been working to set up a fight against Thanos in the third Avengers movie Avengers: Infinity War (2018) . He already appeared in the end credit scene of The Avengers (2012)  and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) , but featured a more prominent rol in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) . Thanos has one goal: find all six of the Infinity Stones. But what exactly are Infinity Stones, which Stone is which and where are they now? I'm here to bring some order in the chaos and to update you on the Infinity Stones, their powers, their appaerences in the MCU and their current locations . Origin I could come up with an encrible way to tell the origin of the Infinity Stones, but Taneleer Tivan (the Collector) has already done that for me in a scene in  Guardians of the Gala...

Dumbledore and Grindelwald: the story behind the Famous Duel

Image
Hey everybody, A long time ago, when Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) had just been released, I promised you guys something: I would write a blog explaining some Harry Potter history about Gellert Grindelwald. Needless to say it took me a bit longer then expected. The story between Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald isn't really explained in the Harry Potter franchise, but if you've read the books, you'll know more about it. This blog is for those of you who haven't read the books and wish to know more. The Dumbledore family The Dumbledore family, like the Potters, lived in Godrics Hollow. They moved their after father Percival was sent to Azkaban for attacking three Muggle boys who attacked his daughter Ariana. There was much speculation in the Wizarding World about Ariana, since she was rarely seen and many thought she was a Squib, a non-magical person born from magical parents. The truth is however different: she was a Witch and was attacked...

Assassin's Creed (NL) Review

Image

Assassin's Creed (EN) Review

Hey everybody, Assassin's Creed, based on the populair gamefranchise, is arguably the best movie adaption of a game until this day, which still isn't saying much because previous attempts to do so were very poor. The movie has a thrilling begin and almost instantly our main character Callum Lynch goes into the Animus, a virtual reality machine which make him relive the memories of his ancestor during the Spanish Inquisition. What we get in 1492 is an absolutely stunning view of the Spanish Inquisition and a thrilling action sequence. I immediately was drawn into this world. He however returns to quickly back to present day and his storyline in the present continues. The storyline in the present feels kind of out of place for me. It's not that I didn't cared about the storyline in the present, but I just wanted to see more of the past. The movie hardly spends any time in the past, only 35%, and that's sad, because those parts was defenitely the best. I never played...
