Assassin's Creed (EN) Review

Hey everybody,

Assassin's Creed, based on the populair gamefranchise, is arguably the best movie adaption of a game until this day, which still isn't saying much because previous attempts to do so were very poor. The movie has a thrilling begin and almost instantly our main character Callum Lynch goes into the Animus, a virtual reality machine which make him relive the memories of his ancestor during the Spanish Inquisition. What we get in 1492 is an absolutely stunning view of the Spanish Inquisition and a thrilling action sequence. I immediately was drawn into this world. He however returns to quickly back to present day and his storyline in the present continues. The storyline in the present feels kind of out of place for me. It's not that I didn't cared about the storyline in the present, but I just wanted to see more of the past. The movie hardly spends any time in the past, only 35%, and that's sad, because those parts was defenitely the best. I never played the games but according to my friend they spend most of their time in the past so it's a shame the movie didn't also. Luckily Michael Fassbender was a great lead and I think him partly producing and directing this movie saved it.

3.5/5
