2017 - My 10 most anticipated movies
Hey everybody,
First of all I want to wish you all the best for 2017 and I want to apologize for not posting for a long
time. You must understand that I have a very busy life as a dental hygienist student. Trust me as I say I will try to find as much time as possible for me to write new pieces. I still love writing very much and my passion for movies has only grown since I started my blog.
2017 is going to be a HUGE year. I am so looking forward to it, because there aren't just a few big movie releases, there are a lot. Today I'll be releasing MY list of the 10 most anticipated movie releases. Again you must understand that this is my opinion and these are the movies I am looking forward to the most. Ready to rumble?
1- The Fate of the Furious (April 14)
Of all the movies coming out in 2017, this is the one where I just want answers. The trailer left me so conflicted and I still can't cope with the direction the story seems to be going. I'm a big fan of the franchise, but that doesn't mean I want the franchise to go on and on. Furious 7 (2015) was the perfect end to the franchise for me but they choose to go on. So they have to come up with a good and beleivable story to justify why they choose to go on.
2- Thor Ragnarok (November 3)
I made myself choose between this new addition to the MCU and the other two: Spider-Man Homecoming (July 7) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5). I chose this one because Ragnorok I think will be of greater influence for Infinity War. Furthermore it will bring back Tom Hiddleston's Loki and will feature Benendict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange. Can I ask for more?
3- Beauty and the Beast (March 17)
A tale as old as time. Beauty and the Beast will not only bring an amazing cast featuring Emma Watsen, Luke Evans, Ian McKellen, Ewan McGregor and Dan Stevens, but it will hopefully also capture the magic of the story. The trailers looked stunning and I can't wait to see how they adopted the classic story.
4- The LEGO Batman movie (February 10)
When I say I want to see this movie most people ask me: why? Can't you see that? I loved The LEGO Movie (2014) and the trailers for this animated flick are hilarious. Besides, it's Batman we're talking about and I love Batman in almost any form he takes. So if he gets his own animated LEGO movie I'm in.
5- Logan (March 3)
There is a good chance that I'll be crying in the theater when the final credits for this movie roll. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine has a special place among superhero portrayals. For 17 years he portrayed this character and I loved every second of it. The trailer for this movie looked very different from previous movies, but very gorgeous. Let's hope this will be a worthy end to an era.
6- Kong: Skull Island (March 10)
I may be a women, but I was pretty thrilled after seeing Godzilla (2014). I think deep down inside I love monster movies. This one also adds the starpower of Tom Hiddleston, Samual L. Jackson and Brie Larson. The trailers looked thrilling and Kong looks great. The story probably won't be very original but I think with a movie like this you don't really need to, as long as they bring it to a entertaining end.
7- Wonder Woman (June 2)
Look, we all know that the DCEU has had a pretty rough start, but the first footage for Justice League (November 17) looked great and the trailers for Wonder Woman looked even better. Wonder Woman I think will be DC's last chance to 'save' both the DCEU and the Justice League. Gal Gadot was great in Batman v Superman. The time setting for Wonder Woman will also be very different because it isn't set in the present day. In addition this will be the first superhero movie with a female lead. Girls, we run the world!
8- War for the Planet of the Apes (July 14)
I don't know when exactly I fell in love with this reboot franchise. The first movie had an amazing story and the second featured some thrilling and shocking action scenes. Andy Serkis is the king of motion capture and I trust him to complete this triology spectaculairly.
9- Star Wars: Episode VIII (December 15)
Do I even need to say anything at all? I think not. This will be the biggest movie of 2017 no doubt and sadly the last time we will see Carrie Fisher playing Leia Organa after her unfortunate death at the end of 2016. Kylo Ren portrayer Adam Driver has stated that he wants to wach this movie without seeing a single trailer and I agree with him. I wouldn't mind going in all blanco, because my fate is with the Force.
10- Transformers: The Last Knight
My last addition might raise a few eyebrows, because the Transformers franchise is a peculiar franchise. The first Transformers movie wasn't a bad movie and ever after the disaster of Revenge of the Fallen, the third came back a bit stronger. Besides the Dinobots there wasn't much good happening in the fourth, so the anticipation for the fifth is high. Will they be able to lift the franchise?
So there you have it: my list for 2017. This is ofcourse only a handfull of the movies to be released in 2017. There is much more to look forward to. Here a list of some other movies I'll also defenitly see in 2017:
Fifty Shades Darker (February 8), The Great Wall (February 17)
The Wall (March 10), Power Rangers (March 24), King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (March 24), Ghost in the Shell (March 31)
The Lost City of Z (April 21). The Circle (April 28)
Baywatch (May 19), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (May 26). Life (May 26)
The Mummy (June 9), Despicable Me 3 (June 30)
Dunkirk (July 21) Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (July 21)
Blade Runner 2049 (October 6)
Jumanji (December 22)
Please 2017, be an amazing year. I put my fate in you after a slightly disappointing 2016.
