Comic book movie guide

Hey everybody,

Comic book movies . Since the release of X-Men in 2000, which proved that comic book movies can be good, we've seen many comic book movies and we haven't seen the end of it. In the next couple of years over 15 comic book movies will be released. So what exactly have Marvel and DC next for us? Well that's what you're going to find out. I've made list of the yet to be released comic book movies and there release dates to create some order in the chaos of all those movies.

Marvel Cinematic Universe
The Marvel Cinematic Universe already contains 13 movies and started in 2008 with the release of Iron Man. They've recently started Phase Three with Captain America Civil War (2016), but what exactly can we expect in Phase Three:

• Doctor Strange (03-11-2016) 
• Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (27-04-2017)
• Spider-Man: Homecoming (06-07-2017)
• Thor: Ragnarök (02-11-2017)
• Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1 (03-05-2018)
• Ant-Man and the Wasp (18-07-2018)
• Black Panther (2018)
• Captain Marvel (07-03-2019)
• Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2 (02-05-2019)
• Inhumans (12-07-2019)

Most of these movies are sequels and will be working towards that one big fight against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & Part, but there are some titles that will probably raise some questions. Doctor Strange will be the origin story of Doctor Strange in which Marvel meets magic. Captain Marvel will be the solo movie about the superhero Captain Marvel (aka Carol Denvers). Inhumans will be a story about the Inhumans, who already play a big part in the Marvel tv series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. I have faith that Marvel will make this Phase Three epic.

But wait, there is more. An yet to be named animated (!!) Spider-Man project is in development. I doubt that it will be part of the MCU, but that doesn't make me any less excited. In addition Marvel has some big plans for 2020, but God knows what. They have announced 3 movies for 2020 and these 3 movies will likely be the start of Phase Four. But nothing is certain.

• Mystery Marvel film (01-05-2020)  
• Mystery Marvel film 2 (10-07-2020) 
• Mystery Marvel film 3 (06-11-2020) 

DC Extended Universe
Although DC already has an extended TV universe with The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, the movie universe now only features two movies. That will soon change and here's how:

• Suicide Squad (04-08-2016)
• Wonder Woman (01-06-2017)
• Justice League Part One (16-11-2017)
• The Flash (16-03-2018)
• Aquaman (26-07-2018)
• Justice League Part Two (14-06-2019)
• Cyborg (02-04-2020)
• Green Lantern Corps (24-07-2020)

Most of the characters had a brief cameo in Batman v Superman (2016). Wonder Woman ofcourse had a larger part. I have my concerns with this DC Extended Universe. Batman v Superman and Man of Steel weren't the critically acclaimed movies we'd hoped they would be. Nonetheless we will be receiving the first Justice League movie next year and after that we'll see solo movies of all the characters. But why don't they turn that around? Give these characters solo movies so we can get to know them and then team them up for the first time. They want to bring these people together so badly, but how can I root for this Justice League if I hardly know them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

But again wait, there's more. DC is working on a project called Shazam (2019), starring Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson as the title character, which will not become a part of the DC Extended Universe. Then there are rumor they're working on a Harley Quinn movie, a solo Batman movie and possibly Suicide Squid 2 if the first one becomes a succes.

X-Men 

There is nothing as unclear as to where the X-Men franchise will go next. There are only 2 movies confirmed:

• Untitled Wolverine Sequel (02-03-2017)
• Deadpool 2 (2017)

I hear you thinking: Deadpool? Yes, they do not share the same universe but Deadpool technically is a mutant and is a spin-off of the X-Men franchise. There are a lot of movies in development, but it is unclear if all these movies will be made. We know that a movie about the mutant Gambit is in the making, but that movie already has a lot of production problems and it's unclear when it will arrive. 20th Century Fox also said to be working on an X-Force movie, a movie adaptation of the New Mutans comic-book serie and a new X-Men movie which will be set in the 1990s. 

At last I have to let you know this: there are still rumors Fox would like to continue on their Fantastic Four sequel even after the big failure of the first one. We'll have to see if they can get a director and if they cast will return. Probably not since Michael B. Jordan signed to play a role in Marvel's Black Panther. I said it before: please Fox give the rights please back to Marvel!

I could go on and write a whole book about all these movies and there are so many more movies rumored to be in development. We'll just have to see if al those movies will be made. I hope you found this piece entertaining and informative, it took me a lot of research to make.
