Hey everybody, It's time for change. I am going to be honest: I am not that enthusiastic for writing reviews as I was when I started my blog. I have been the owner of this blog for two years now and I have noticed that I have not really grown in popularity. Writing a full review has become harder, especially because I write the review in two languages. That is why I am introducing a new concept. I will now release a blog at the end of each month in which I review the movies I have seen that month in just a few sentences. This will take me a lot less time to write them, because there is no pressure in writing them the same night that I have seen the movie. Hey everybody, Been a long time since I spoke to you, but you already knew I would be quiet for 2 months. Luckily I found the time between sweating my pants of in 33 degree Celsius and painting the walls of a school to write two quick reviews. If you follow me on Instagram you have seen that I was able to see Thor Ragnarok in Thailand, and there is more good news, because I was also able to see Justice League last week as well. It was so m enjoyeduch more funny and sarcastic then previous installments. Hey everybody, Do you remember when I wrote this quote in my Fall Movie Preview 2017 blog: ' This fall will be pretty weird for me, because I will probably won't have the chance to see most of these movies in the theate r '. After 3 years I finally reached my final year. This year I was given the opportion to study abroad and I took this opportunity with both hands. Hoi allemaal, Ik ga eerlijk zijn: ik was geen groot fan van de eerste Kingsman film in 2014. Ik was toen iets 'gevoeliger' en ik was absoluut geschokt tijdens de scene in de kerk. Ik heb de film toen nooit meer gezien en was ook niet enthousiast toen ik hoorde dat er een vervolg op de planning stond, maar de tijden zijn veranderd en ik ben nu eigenaar van een filmblog dus ik was bereid om het nog een kans te geven. De kerk scene was veel bloederiger in mijn gedachten en de laatste actie scenes waren absoluut briljant. Hey everybody, I'm going to be honest: I wasn't a big fan of the first Kingsman movie back in 2014. I was a bit more fainthearted then and was absolutely 'shocked' during the church scene. I never saw the movie again and wasn't really excited when I heard they were making a sequel, but times have certainly changed and I own a movieblog now so I was willing to give it another shot. I've never been so wrong about a movie before I think, because I absolutely loved the first one yesterday. The church scene was much more gruesome in my imagination and the final battle scene is absolutely brilliant. But we are not here to talk about the first movie, we are here to talk about the sequel. Seeing the two movies made me release that they are indeed very similar, but if you're a fan of the first one, you wouldn't really mind right? Hey everybody, Goodbye summer, until next year. This year, movie wise, we had a good year I think. But the box office, the ticket sales at the cinemas, had a rough year. For some reason people weren't really interested in going to the theater this summer. A shame really, but there's nothing we can do about it now. So it's time to look ahead to the movies that are coming to us this fall. Hey everybody, With the release of yet another book-to-movie adaptation, brings back the usual question: 'Which of the two should be watched/read first?' Opinions on the matter differ very much. Reading a book you probably create a vision in your head about the characters and setting. Seeing the movie can be disappointing when it isn't the way you imagined it, or pleasing when it's better then the way you imagined it. They're many examples of great adaptations like the  Harry Potter franchise  or  The Lord of the Rings Triology,  but also many that failed to deliver. Movies often differ from the books, which can anger fans immensely. I could go on and on about this matter for hours but it's probably better to get back to the subject that matter today: the release of  The Dark Tower  based on the popular book series by Stephen King. Hoi allemaal, Met de komst van weer een boek-naar-film adaptatie, komt de bekende vraag terug: 'Welke van de twee kijk/lees je eerst?' Meningen daarover verschillen erg. Tijdens het lezen van een boek ontwikkel je vaak een bepaald beeld van de karakters en de wereld. Hey everybody, Here's my weekly *SPOILER* recap of the latest Game of Thrones episode. I will list the most important developments of this week's epidose. This week's that will be Episode 7 'The Dragon and the Wolf'. Daenerys, Jon, Tyrion and the rest of their company arrive at the Dragonpit, where they planned their meeting with Cersei and Jaime . They show Cersei and Jaime the wight they brought with them who are shocked. Cersei agrees to help them as long as Jon doesn't pick a side between the two Queens, but he confesses he can't do that because he already pledged loyalty to Daenerys . Cersei blows of the deal and Tyrion  is the only one who could talk her out of it with his own life on the risk. Hoi allemaal, Oke dus: Samuel L. Jackson en Ryan Reynolds waren hier in mijn land, in Nederland, en ik kan mezelf alleen maar afvragen: 'Waar was ik?'. Waarom heb ik geen dag vrij genomen van school of werk om ze gave stunts te zien uitvoeren in de grachten van Amsterdam of in Den Haag? Weten jullie nog dat ik in mijn review van  Dunkirk  vertelde dat ik trots was omdat een deel van de film werd opgenomen in Nederland? Hey everybody, Okay so: Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds were here in my country, in the Netherlands and all I can ask myself: 'Where was I?'. Why didn't I take a day off from school or work to go see them do awesome stunts in the canals of Amsterdam or The Hague? Remember when I told you in my  Dunkirk review that I was proud it was partially shot in The Netherlands. Can you understand now that The Hitman's Bodyguard topped that feeling three times? About 45 precent of the movie takes place in my little country and I never realized how beautifull Holland can look. Ah well .. it would have been nice to see Ryan and Samuel here. They are the reason I enjoyed The Hitman's Bodyguard very much. They both have that natural fun vibe and they probably didn't have to act much while performing their many jokes en throwing insults at each other. Hey everybody, Here's my weekly *SPOILER* recap of the latest Game of Thrones episode. I will list the most important developments of this week's epidose. This week's that will be Episode 6 'Beyond the Wall'. Jon , Jorah , The Hound , Beric Dondarrion , Thoros , Gendry , Tormund and the rest of the Brotherhood without Banners have gone beyond the Wall. They face many threats but manage to capture a wight from a small group. The wight calls for help and the Army of the Dead attacks the group. They send  Gendry  back to Eastwatch to get help from  Daenerys while they get trapped on a small rock. When Daenerys receives the raven from  Gendry Tyrion  advices her not to go but she ignores him and flies beyond the Wall with her three dragons. This week's that will be Episode 5 'Eastwatch'. Jaime and Bronn make it out of the river alive. Jaime returns home to tell Cersei what he witnessed. He also tells her Lady Olenna killed Joffrey Daenerys offers the surviving Lannister soldiers a choice: bend the knee or die. Hoi allemaal, We wisten al dat Charlize Theron een echte badass was, zoals we al hebben kunnen zien in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). Maar ze bewijst in Atomic Blonde  weer dat je echt niet met haar moet sollen en het is indrukwekkend om te leren dat ze het grootste gedeelte van haar stunts zelf heeft gedaan. Hey everybody, We already knew Charlize Theron could kick some serious ass as we've seen her do it in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). But she proves once again that you really shouldn't mess with her in Atomic Blonde  and it's impressive to learn that she did most of the stunts herself. Charlize has already stated in an interview that it's not easy for a woman to get this movie made. Hollywood still has a long way to go, but see a movie in which a woman kicks serious ass makes my female heart always very proud. There have always been awesome woman like Princess Leia, Ellen Ripley or Sarah Connor for example, but it's rare to see a woman star in a titular role. It appears that Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) has set the tone for movies to feature an awesome 80's soundtrack. Let's start with Episode 1 'Dragonstone' Jon Snow , reunited with Sansa at Winterfell, tries to figure out how to take back the loyalty of the North. He also declares that he will start a wide search to find Dragonglass. Hoi allemaal, Dit klinkt misschien raar, maar ik voel altijd een soort van trots als een Hollywood film gefilmd is in Nederland. Het komt dan waarschijnlijk ook niet als verrassing als ik je nu vertel dat Dunkirk gedeeltelijk is opgenomen in Nederland. Ik wil niet te opschepperig klinken maar ik moet zeggen dat Nederland zich leent voor wat mooie beelden en scenes. Dunkirk  is opgenomen op een unieke manier. De film geeft een erg intens gevoel door de setting, maar geeft nooit dat extreme gevoel dat ik had bij het kijken van Hacksaw Ridge  (2016). De film concentreert zich op een paar verhaallijnen en karakters, die uiteindelijk samen komen. De karakters zijn niet erg uitgewerkt, sommige van hun worden nooit bij naam genoemd, en er is erg weinig dialoog in de film, maar het is wel heel passend voor de manier waarop dit verhaal verteld wordt. Het maakt het wel moeilijk om je te relateren aan de karakters op een bepaald level. Maar aan de andere kant: deze mannen zijn slacht...

Hey everybody, This may sound weird, but I always feel some sort of pride when a Hollywood movie is shot in The Netherlands. So it may not come as a surprise if I tell you Dunkirk is partly shot in The Netherlands. I don't want to sound too cocky but I must say The Netherlands lands itself to some pretty amazing shots and scenes. Dunkirk  overal is shot in a unique way. The movie has a very intens feeling because of the setting, but never gets that extreme feeling which I felt watching Hacksaw Ridge  (2016). The movie focuses on a few storylines and characters, who eventually come together. The characters aren’t very developed, some of them are never called by their names, and there is very little dialogue througout the movie, but that is only suiting for the way this story is told. It makes it however a bit difficult to relate to this characters on a certain level. On the other hand: these men are victims of the war and I can fully understand why they want to go home....

Hoi allemaal, Er is niets moeilijker dan een perfecte einde brengen aan een triologie. Om een einde te brengen die de serie eer aan doet en niet onderdoet aan zijn voorgangers, is niet altijd Hollywood's sterkste punt. Gelukkig is  War for the Planet of the Apes  alles waar we op gehoopt hadden. De hele triologie heeft altijd al een sterke verhaallijn gehad, die nu eindigt in een gedachten provocerende manier. Ik moet toegeven dat het niet helemaal eindigt als ik had verwacht, en de oorlog loopt ook anders dan verwacht, maar dat maakt de film wel weer een verrassing en bewijst maar dat je nooit alleen af moet gaan op de trailers. Ik ben van plan een campagne te starten om Andy Serkis de Oscar te geven die hij verdient.  Deze man heeft zoveel betekent voor de film industrie en de ontwikkeling van motion capture. Hey everybody, There is nothing more difficult then to bring the perfect end to a triology. To deliver an end that does justice to the serie and isn't inferior to its predecessors, isn't always Hollywood strongest point. Luckily  War of the Planet of the Apes  is everything you could hope for. The whole triology always had an incredibly powerful storyline, which ends in a thought provoking way. I must admit it didn't ended the way I thought it would, and the war we see is also a bit different then expected, but it keeps the movie a surprise and proves trailers can be very misleading. I'm planning a campaign to give Andy Serkis the Oscar he deserves. This man has meant so much for the movie industry and the development of motion capture. He has brought to life incredible characters like Gollum, King Kong and now Caesar. He and Woody Harrelson have a great chemistry on screen, and are worthy opponents. Hey everybody, I don't know how exactly they do it, but Marvel just once again proves they're able to tackle almost every challenge they face. I personally think Marvel director Kevin Feige has had such a clear direction from the start of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that's why these movies work so well. Spider-Man Homecoming gives us the Spider-Man movie we've all been dying for since the disaster that was Spider-Man 3 (2007). Tom Holland's portrayal of the web-slinger already was one the highlights of last year's  Captain America: Civil War (2016), but he truely shines in his stand alone movie. He brings so much heart and humor to this character, and finally gives us that true Spider-Man feeling: Peter is just a high school kid trying to find balance between making his homework and fighting crime as a superhero. Hoi allemaal, No matter what, iedereen krijgt altijd zijn eigen verwachtingen na het zien van een trailer of preview. Ik probeer daarnaast altijd mijn eigen regel te volgen: niet meer naar de trailer van een film kijken 2 maanden voordat de film uitkomt, zodat ik zo verrast mogelijk ben. Mijn verwachting van deze film was best hoog, ik vond de trailer in mijn herinnering fantastisch. Ik denk dat jullie wel kunnen raden waar dit heengaat: Baby Driver was helaas een beetje teleurstellend in mijn ogen. Begrijp me niet verkeerd, het was best een leuke film. De actie scenes met de auto's waren leuk, ik houd daar sowieso wel van, maar de stukken daartussen konden mijn aandacht niet echt vasthouden. Misschien had ik meer actie verwacht of een ander soort humor. Hey everybody, No matter what, everyone has their own expectations after seeing a trailer or preview. In addition I always try to follow my own rule: don't watch the trailer of an upcoming movie anymore 2 months before its release. My expectations of this movie wer pretty high, in my memory I loved the trailer. I think you can all guess where this is going:  Baby Driver unfortunately was slightly disappointing in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, it was a pretty fun movie. It feature some great action scenes involving cars, which I always love, but the parts inbetween couldn't quiet grab my attention. I think I'd expected more action or a different sort of humor. I personally thought Jamie Foxx' character was a bit annoying with a bad sense of humor. The rest of the cast and crew deliver solid performances, my favorite delivered by Kevin Spacey. Hey everybody, On June 7 I went to see The Mummy (2017) on its opening day with a friend of mine. I'd seen the trailers and was pretty excited about it. I actually did enjoyed the movie a lot: I thought it was scary and entertaining, and I didn't had major issues with it. Later that day I wrote my review on it and, as you can read, I was pretty positive and gave it 4 out of 5 points. I'd expected the world to agree with me. I was however very wrong. A few hours after I published my review I found out critics around the world hated the movie and stated it was: 'the WORST Tom Cruise movie ever'. I never read the full reviews, because I don't want my opinion to be effected by them. But, as you can imagine, reading all those horrible headlines about it, really started to make me second guess myself. I never had this before after seeing a movie, and it still bothers me today. Hoi allemaal, Als je dacht dat de wereld al genoeg film franchises en gedeelte universums had, dan had je het mis. The Mummy  is het begin van hun Dark Universe, wat een gedeeld monster universum, en het is een goed begin. Universal Pictures heeft zojuist de eerste film uitgebracht in een nieuw gedeeld universum van monsterachtige porporties. Hey everybody, If you thought the world already had enough movie franchises and shared universes, you were wrong. Universal Pictures has just released their first movie in a new shared universe of monstrous proportions. The Mummy is the start of their Dark Universe, which will be a shared monster universe, and it is a great start. If you have Tom Cruise, who is always a stellar performer, as your leading man, you know you're already halfway there. Mix that up with some thrilling action scenes and a few effective jumpscares, and you got yourself a winner. The Mummy brings the myths and legends in an excellent way to life with beautiful flashbacks and imagery of Ancient Egypt. The skill of bringing these myths to life will certainly come in handy when they will tackle the next generation of monster movies. Hey everybody, I really tried, I did honestly, but the truth is very hard: don't waste your money watching Baywatch this summer. I'm sorry Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson! You are probably the best part of this movie and you tried so hard to make it work, but you couldn't do this on your own.  I normally don't go to these types of movie comedies. Comedies these days just include to many sex jokes and I'm not a fan of all that oversexed humor they feel necessary to include. It is just not funny for me. Nevertheless I put that aside and went to watch Baywatch because I love The Rock (and secretly Zac Efron ... I am, after all, still a woman 😅). It failed miserably to make me laugh for the good reasons: I started laughing because it was so bad. Hoi allemaal, Ik heb het geprobeerd, ik heb het echt geprobeerd, maar de waarheid is hard: verspil je geld alsjeblieft niet aan het kijken van  Baywatch  deze zomer. Het spijt me Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson! Je bent waarschijnlijk het beste gedeelte van de film en je deed zo je best om het te laten werken, maar je kon het gewoon niet alleen doen. Hey everybody, Fun fact: the original title for this movie is  Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales , but for some reason they changed that and in many other countries, including the Netherlands, it is known only as  Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge . That is the reason why my other review written in Dutch has the different name. The odds were never really in the favor for this movie, because I'm not a major fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and of Johnny Depp. However I found that it was my duty for my blog to see it and I was actually really curious. I know this is a fantasy franchise and not realistic at all, but even in this genre there are forms of unrealistic. If you look past these unrealistic moments and try to see the joy and fun of it, this movie is bareable and entertaining. Captain Jack Sparrow has his typical moments again and his character is part of the reason this movie isn't a disaster. This is one of the better sequels...

Hoi allemaal, Hoe maak je een vervolg op een van de grootste successen die de hele wereld VERBAASDE in 2014? Het is bijna onmogelijk, maar laat het over aan de capabele handen van Marvel om een manier te vinden.  Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) blaasde iedereen omver met zijn unieke stijl en humor. Niemand had verwacht dat het zo grappig zou zijn als het was, niemand had er überhaupt iets van verwacht. Om dat level van humor en vrijheid die ze hadden tijdens het maken van de eerste film is niet makkelijk. De humor in die film voelde zo natuurlijk en deze keer voelt de humor iets meer geforceerd, maar ook omdat iedereen er nu meer van verwacht dan de vorige keer. De hele film voelt iets meer geforceerd, maar datzelfde gevoel had ik ook tijdens Avengers Age of Ultron (2015) en dat betekent niet dat de film niet goed is.
